This is Going to be Fun

So to no surprise, except maybe to Becky Lourey and Steve Kelley, Mike Hatch prevailed last night for the Gubernatorial endorsement.

Mike Hatch is a power hungry, angry man who has been running for governor as long as John Kerry has been running for president. 

Hatch claims to be the candidate who will talk about the meat and potato issues of the day.  Please Mike, will you?  When those issues such as health care, education reform, growing the economy, job creation, low taxes, less government spending, and immigration are talked about, we win every time.  Governor Pawlenty has a record second to none on every single one of those issues and this state leads the nation for the better in those categories!!!

Rochester- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today released the following statement regarding today's DFL endorsement of Mike Hatch.

"Mike Hatch has been running for governor for nearly 20 years and broke his word this year by running for governor a third time.  During that 20 years, his fellow DFLers have called him a 'chameleon,' an 'opportunist,' and 'a man willing to sell his soul just to get elected.'  No matter how extreme the makeover Hatch attempts, Minnesotans aren't going to trust someone with that kind of opportunistic and inconsistent record."

Bring on the fight Mike, we will make your angry self implode on the campaign trail!!

DFL State Convention

Today is the Gubernatorial endorsement.  Although in the DFL an endorsement does not matter, so we will have to wait until September to see who will face TPaw.

I mentioned that this man is delusional last week but come on!!!

It is 2006, it is has been 2 years since Steve Kelley lead the charge to throw out the most talented Commissioner of Education we have ever had. Yet he is still talking about Cheri Yecke. Sorry Steve, but Cheri is leading the charge in Florida for the president's brother. Who got the last laugh? That's what I thought!!

This is my favorite quote from the article:

"He's got us thinking small," said Kelley. "I think it's time for Minnesota to start thinking like we're a national leader again."

I guess someone on Kelley's staff forgot to tell him the abundance of issues that we are national leaders in. Hey Steve, higher taxes are one thing Minnesotans do not want to be at the top in!!!

Steve Kelley’s Running Mate

Usually when candidates pick a running mate, the running mate has something to bring to the ticket.  My best guess is that Steve Kelley pulled Ruth Johnson's name out of a hat!!  MDE has also been following this story.

The MN GOP released a statement today on this:

St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding Steve Kelley's selection of Ruth Johnson as his running mate."With his choice of 'Retread Ruth' Johnson as his running mate, Steve Kelley has once again demonstrated his commitment to the failed liberalism of the past."Steve Kelley should check in with 'Governor' Mike Freeman about just how much Ruth Johnson brings to a statewide ticket."

DFL Crashes Pawlenty Announcement

MDE, has a great post with a picture of this clown that had nothing better to do with a beautiful Wednesday morning.  It is apparent to me that the DFL knows that these are the tactics that they must employ in order to make any sort of gain in this race.  When it is on the topic of the issues, Governor Pawlenty wins handily, be it the amazing job creation, taking a record deficit to a surplus, keeping the tax burden low on families, and performance based pay for teachers and politicians, we will beat you every time. 

Steve Kelley Right for Once??

Steve Kelley, if you did not know already is completely dellusional. This quote from City Pages however shows that he may know something, and at least has a sense of humor.

"I watched the [Skip] Humphrey campaign and the [Roger] Moe campaign both come to the DFL caucus and say, 'We're going to win this by getting a super turnout in our bases of Minneapolis and St. Paul and up in the Eighth District"-on the Iron Range-"and then compete against the Republicans in the 'L' along the more rural western and southern sides of the state," says Kelley. "Both of them campaigned that way and both of them got about 38 percent of the vote. If they talked at all about campaigning in the suburbs, it was about trying to appeal to some blue-collar workers in Anoka County."
By Kelley's assessment, and it must be noted that he's laying out a political strategy here, that's a narrow view of the electorate. "And from what I've seen and heard," he notes, "I think Mike and Becky intend to pursue that same Humphrey-Moe strategy."

Thank you Senator Kelley for pointing out the DFL failed plans of the past. I predict this may be the only time you are right in this campaign, and I predict that Hatch and Lourey will continue to pursue the failed strategies of the past!!
